contactjuggling

A clear acrylic sphere rolled and balanced across the hands, arms, and body. Contact juggling creates the illusion the ball is floating or alive.

Made famous by the movie Labyrinth (1986), contact juggling is pure manipulation — no throwing, all isolation and body rolls.

Getting started

Get a 76mm acrylic ball. Start with palm rolls and the butterfly. Warning: acrylic balls are fragile — they crack if dropped on hard surfaces.

DIY

You cannot make a proper contact ball at home. The illusion requires a perfectly clear, polished acrylic sphere.

What to buy:

  • Beginner: 76mm acrylic ball (~15 EUR)
  • Standard: 100mm acrylic ball (~25 EUR)
  • Store in a soft microfiber pouch — scratches are permanent
  • Never drop on hard surfaces — acrylic cracks
