Orbitals

Technique

An orbital occurs when the poi tethers are intentionally tangled together and the poi heads spin rapidly around the tangle point between your hands. A sustained, high-speed rotation that leverages gyroscopic stability.

How it works

You bring the two poi tethers together so they cross and tangle at a point (the "nexus"). The poi heads then spin extremely fast in a tight circle around this point, creating a buzzing disc of motion between your arms.

How to learn

  1. Master air wraps and hyperloops first — orbitals build on tangle mechanics
  2. Start with a basic tangle entry and try to sustain the spin
  3. The fast spinning creates gyroscopic stability — once it is going, it wants to keep going
  4. Control comes from subtle hand movements to guide the nexus point

Applies to

Poi exclusively — requires two separate tethers to tangle.
