Kevlar Wick Care

Safety
firesafety

Kevlar wicks last years if treated right.

Breaking in new wicks

  1. Soak in paraffin for 2-3 hours before first burn
  2. First burn will be short — the wick needs to absorb fuel
  3. After 3-5 burns, the wick reaches full capacity

Maintenance

  • Don't over-fuel — dripping wicks waste fuel and are dangerous
  • Extinguish with fire blanket, not water (water degrades the wick)
  • Check for fraying, loose threads, or charred spots
  • Store dry — don't leave wicks soaking between sessions

When to replace

Replace when thin, charred through, or when burn time drops. Well-maintained kevlar lasts 100+ burns.
